Our current research project is the ‘Working women of Brighton & Hove in the 20th Century’ project. Our aim is to research and map significant women in Brighton & Hove such as the female workers at Brighton’s once iconic store, Hanningtons, or landladies, publicans and cook’s from the hospitality trade. Once complete, we will publish our findings here on our website.
We are looking for women who are interested in history research to contribute to and join us on this fantastic project. If you would like to research subjects such as ‘Women from working class beginnings who ended up owning their own businesses’ or ‘sisters who built their own businesses together’ then simply email us on bhwhistoryg@gmail.com with the area you are looking to study and we will welcome you onto the project!
