We were delighted to be featured in a 3 page spread in the March addition of Sussex Life.
Thanks to Kate Rice for doing the interview and write up.
The article talked about our past and present work / research and included photos of the committee; Minnie Turner; Margaret Bonfield; Mary Clarke and Molly Paley. The article was picked up enthusiastically by the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra as it featured their first leader Molly Paley, of whom they are very proud. This has given us a great connection to the orchestra, which we would like to continue to grow as researching other women musicians in B and H from the 19th / 20th century, is one of the many areas we are exploring in our new research project.
There is also research under way in regards to Laundresses in B and H and department store workers / shopkeepers. We are also delighted that some of our new members are researching for women in the 1901 and 1911 census’ and local directories who lived or worked in the road where they are living now.
