Mary Hare, was a pioneer campaigner for the deaf and founder of a special school on the same site.  Mary was also a suffragette and established a Women’s Police force in Brighton during the first World War. Congratulations to our member Margaret Stewart, a former pupil of Mary Hare School, who campaigned tirelessly for this!
