On Saturday 23rd March 2024, the Mayor of Brighton unveiled our latest Blue Plaque, in honour of Mary Hare (1865 – 1945), at 17 St Michael’s Place, BN1 3FT.

Mary Hare, was a pioneer campaigner for the deaf and founder of a special school on the same site.  Mary was also a suffragette and established a Women’s Police force in Brighton during the first World War.
