We had a useful get together of 7 members on Tuesday 15th November at the Jubilee Library. We discussed some of the jobs that we might research in our new project ‘Working Women in Brighton and Hove in the 20th Century’’ …such as factory workers; laundresses; Women in the hospitality industry and women in service etc. We also talked about area research using the 1911 census in Find My Past as a useful way to research women by location.
We have been offered the chance of working with Brighton Girls School in relation to helping them research their Alumni…this is going to be an exciting and on-going project, hopefully starting in the new year.
It was proposed by our Jubilee Library member, Julie O’Neil that in the New Year we make the Tuesday early evening meeting a monthly event. Look out for further developments with regard to these regular meetings.
